Ready for your footer
Build your copyright notice
Add the owner and publication year. Copy a notice as text or a safe HTML snippet.
Use the actual owner and publication year. This tool formats a notice; it does not determine ownership or register copyright.
Your copyright notice
Enter an owner to get started.

Create a notice in three steps
- Enter the owner. Use the person or organization that owns the work. The generator does not verify ownership.
- Set the publication year. Use one year, or add an end year when a range fits your notice. The end year cannot be earlier than the first year.
- Choose your output. Copy text for a document or visual editor. Copy HTML when you are editing HTML source.
Notice formats you can create
A single publication year
© 2026 Northstar Studio
Leave End year empty and turn off the rights-reserved phrase for this shorter format.
A year range
© 2020–2026 Northstar Studio. All rights reserved.
Add an end year and keep the optional phrase enabled. Equal start and end years display as one year.
Use the HTML version in a website footer
Copy HTML produces a paragraph like the example below. Paste it into your footer’s HTML source or a custom HTML block. In a visual text editor, use Copy text so the tags do not appear as visible text.
<p>© 2026 Northstar Studio. All rights reserved.</p>Special characters in the owner name are escaped in the HTML output. For example, an ampersand becomes & in the source and displays as & on the page. The output has no styling or automatic year update.
Check the details before publishing
This tool formats your input; it cannot establish who owns a work or which dates belong in its notice. Review those details and any third-party material separately. For background on the symbol and conventional notice format, read the copyright symbol guide.
Your name, dates, and preview stay in this browser tab. They are not included in our custom analytics events. See the privacy policy for details.
Frequently asked questions
What information do I need to create a copyright notice?
Enter the copyright owner’s name and the first publication year. You can add an end year for a range and choose whether to include “All rights reserved.” Check that the information matches the work you are describing.
Which year does the generator use by default?
It starts with the current year from your device. Change it to the actual first publication year when needed. The tool cannot determine when your work was published.
What is the difference between Copy text and Copy HTML?
Copy text gives you the notice as plain text. Copy HTML wraps the notice in a paragraph element and escapes special characters in the owner name. Use that version in an HTML source editor, not an ordinary text field.
Will the notice update itself next year?
No. Both outputs are fixed text. Review the dates when your publication changes and generate an updated notice when appropriate.
Does this generator register copyright?
No. It formats the details you provide. It does not determine ownership, register a work, check a license, or decide what notice is appropriate under a particular country’s law.
